Big Savage Tunnel is ready for you.
Bike or hike through the coolest 3,294.6 feet (1,004.2 m) of the Great Allegheny Passage. Tunnel lights are on from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
An easy ride – 2.17 miles, is from the GAP Trailhead at Deal, PA to the tunnel. Just beyond the east end is the spectacular Big Savage Vista, where you can see four states. To reach the tunnel from Maryland, start at the Frostburg Trailhead and ride just over 5 miles toward Meyersdale.
Either way, there’s plenty of the green side of Somerset County to enjoy.
