LINDSEY

Lindsay Baer, Director of Parks & Trails
Somerset County

Prior to joining Somerset County government in March 2019, Lindsay served as the community and economic development program manager at the Southern Alleghenies Planning & Development Commission and there worked with Somerset County on many projects and grants for trail projects.

Best of all, Lindsay has always had a passion for the outdoors. “I’m big into biking and hiking on the Great Allegheny Passage, and I am looking forward to keep its projects going to keep  it the best part of the whole trail,” she said. "Already we are seeing improvements to the potential trail at the lake, and there is momentum for completion of the September 11th Trail. This is an exciting time for me, Somerset County, and our SCRTA members!"

Cathy McCollom, Board Chair

With over 35 years of experience in creating successful community development programs in Pennsylvania and Maryland, Cathy has long been dedicated to community redevelopment and its ties to recreation. She launched the highly successful Trail Towns initiative in nine communities bordering the Great Allegheny Passage rail trail in 2007 and has since expanded the concept to River Towns.

Now a resident of one of those Trail Towns along the GAP, Cathy took the helm of the reborn SCRTA in late 2019 and is excited to see growth in membership and the group’s mission. “We have great ideas for how to connect more people from Somerset County to the recreation opportunities right in their back yard. The COVID pandemic may have gotten in our way at the start but being in the outdoors will help us get past that.”
