Work toward refilling Somerset Lake moves forward on two fronts.
First, the spillway control structure is taking shape at the dam. This will control the water level allowing adjustments as needed. Once all the pieces are in place, a test will fill the lake partially. The contractor can check the dam and structures to see that they are working properly. It’s a big step toward the rebirth of Somerset Lake.
Also, work is started on building a platform for fishing, birdwatching, or restful enjoyment on the west side of the lake. It will be a short distance into the lake and reached by a walkway. The feature will be accessible from the trail that circles the lake.
